Urban beekeeping in New Mexico's largest city.
I recently ordered some test strips for European and American Foulbrood. I have an infection in some of my hives and was worried if it may be AFB. Luckily it is not!
The test strips, however, did show a positive for EFB. Now my question is if anyone knows of a veterinarian who would be willing to work with me to get a prescription written for Terramycin (Terra-Pro)? Attached are the images of my tests.
If you know of anyone, please let me know.
Sorry to hear about a positive test for EFB. It is awesome that you were able to identify and make the diagnosis. Good luck in treating and ridding your apiary of EFB.
It is a good time for the rest of us to learn more about and know what American Foulbrood (AFB) and and European Foulbrood (EFB) looks like and how to diagnosis in our own hives. I've included a link to the Honey Bee Health Coalition: IDENTIFYING AND MITIGATING FOULBROOD IN HONEY BEE COLONIES. The rest of us should educate ourselves on these diseases so we know what to look for and ways to treat.
