Albuquerque Beekeepers

Urban beekeeping in New Mexico's largest city.

The Age of "Api-Quarius" is upon us! :) We are welcoming a positive change in perspective and practice and we wish everyone a very merry Hap-Bee New Year!

We are doing things a little differently this year- as we learn to accomodate our chosen roles as parents, community members and professional apiculturists. We continue to learn, and as such, are committed to serving area pollinators and stewards for as long as we are physically, mentally and financially able!

We normally begin taking reservations from across the region beginning right after MLK weekend. However, this year, we would like to extend invitation to NM beekeepers first. We recognize that due to our limited availability, area beekeepers sometimes miss placing an order with us before we fill up. We will begin taking NM reservations on January 2nd! We will keep the reservations list for NM resident beekeepers until we fill up or hit Jan. 22nd, and then at that time we will offer what is left to the greater region.

We have info on our website blog with details on kinds, price and timing for both Top Bar and Langstroth starter nuclei. Visit www.ziaqueenbees.com/zia

We are also spearheading the Western Apicultural Society's annual conference this coming bee season. It will be taking place in Santa Fe in September. I will be making the venue and date announcement shortly. Right now, the potential speaker list is amazing and as the agenda takes solid shape, I will share who and what will be venturing to our fair Land of Enchantment to share their richly diverse stories, research, experiences and perspectives. I invite those of you interested in sharing your beekeeping experiences with a larger audience, to consider signing up to present. Many visitors will be coming and they are anxious to hear about beekeeping and diversified farming and community efforts in our area. We are also open to speaker recommendations and topic/tour suggestions.
