Hello,
I lost my last fall and early winter. I am sure that my Mite treatment of Formac Pro did my queens in. It is a same that I have to start over.

Hello Fellow Beekeepers!
My bees did not over winter and I am looking for a swarm. I used to be on the swarm list but somehow i am not on it anymore. I would really like to get a new swarm soon. I have been keeping my eye out but have not seen many bees at all!! Please let me know if you see a swarm or have one you are willing to give me.
Thank you,
Dorian 505-321-7571
My guess is that the dry weather this winter would not be a reasonable explanation for bee loss. My experience has taught me that more times than not it is the mite which weakens the hive so much that the cluster is not strong enough to endure cold nights. There are also other possible reasons. Another thing to worry about is the warm weather we are having during the day. With warm weather the bees are more active. With that activity the bees use honey stores faster. All of us should be lifting our hives to see if it still has the weight of sufficient honey stores. If not we need to supplement with sugar water or other source of sugar.
Hi James. That $500 price tag is still less than a Warre hive, (Sweet Valley, although they recently reduced the price). I just love how they all fit together in the bee house. Neat, clean, practical. The email I got repeats what you are saying and I believe they will even ship Nucs. How awesome is that?
This hive certainly seems user friendly. I sent them an emil and as soon as I get a response I will share it with you.
Wow! Thanks for sharing James. Those hives seem awesome. Do you know of anyone who has one?
I did check for the red dots but found nothing. Just a puzzle!
I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with their hives dying suddenly?? When I open the hive because I am not seeing any activity, there is a small pile of dead bees and the combs are empty. Any ideas? Between my daughter and I, we have lost 2 of our 4 hives. Just in the last 3 weeks!
There are several Top Bar Beekeepers in Placitas and up the road off Highway 550 in the Enchanted Hills area. We live near Bernalillo and we would be happy to talk to you.
Paul, did these swarms occur up and around the ABQ area? I just started seeing capped drone cells in my hive last week.
