The Evening Before Grandma Passed

I wrote this after losing my grandma.  I find solace in beekeeping and watching bees, possibly like some of you.  I hope all of you are doing well in these times.  10/8/2020On Tuesday I got 11 hives ready for winter.I condensed Langstroth hives to fewer boxes, shifted honey around so that every hive had enough, and arranged top bars in a way that benefits them as they form their winter cluster. As these bees slow down and get ready to rest—I knew my grandma was doing the same. The nurses said…See More

I would not mind calling you if that is ok. I am going to call Randy S. also. He has been a wonderful mentor for me. This is my second year. I have also harvested my honey and getting ready for the fall.

Thank you,

Jim Fitzgibbon

Hi Amy,

I would be happy to meet you and am also a (retired) clinical and school social worker.  Let me know when you are making the move and getting your bees.  Phill Remick, who lives in Edgewood, sells equipment and will have a smoker and hive tool. His phone number is:505-589-4398.  His business is New Bee Rescue -- you can google it and get his e-mail address.  Looking forward to meeting you soon, Sarah Malone, Cedar Crest
