Sorry this took me so long to respond. I do not get onto the websites as often as I should.
I got my hive from Darren Jewel a local beekeeper in Albuquerque, who has been mentoring me on what to do. He is a great resource to have actually. The last five months have been really cool to see how the hive has progressed. I started out with just a deep and now have 2 deeps and three mediums packed with honey in just five months, its crazy how fast they are. I open up my hive about every two weeks just to check in on them and see what their progress is. I am going to not extract any honey this season due to the winter that we are going to get. It is suppose to be a very cold and wet one. Do you plan on expanding to more hives next year?

I am the same as you, just starting out and with one Langstroth hive 5 months ago. How is your hive doing so far? Have you extracted honey yet? I opened up the hive today to do an inspection and they have been rockin it. Did you winter your hive last year and how did that go in our climate here in Rio Rancho. LOL sorry for all the questions just curious to see how others in Rio Rancho are doing with their hives.
